"Hands-on" Computer Training Classes

Phil Ball teaching an OLLI class on Photoshop Elements using the desktop computers available at Yavapai College.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is the Senior Programs arm of Yavapai College. It provides numerous "hands-on" computer training classes for OLLI and PCS members. The classes will be given at Yavapai College in one of the several classrooms equipped with 24 desktop computers. Typically, these classes cover photography (including Photoshop Elements), Microsoft Word, Working With Spreadsheets and Computer Foundations (basic computing).

Please contact OLLI for additional information about these classes or check their current catalog. As an example of this "hands-on" format, some information concerning the very popular OLLI/PCS Photoshop Elements class, given several times a year by Phil Ball, is listed below.

Photoshop Elements Class

This class consists of two six-week series of classes. The introductory series is followed by a second series to continue with other, more advanced computer techniques to enhance and store images. A basic understanding of using a camera and a computer is assumed for both of these series of classes.

Many photos can be greatly improved by using easy and simple techniques on a computer. This entire class series is about using a computer to improve our photos. Most of us learn best by actually doing what we are taught. We will use the classroom’s computers to give us hands-on experience using Photoshop Elements to practice some of the basic and more advanced techniques to enhance sample images so you can improve your photos.
